Hadley Seymore was born in New York in 1986, and currently lives in Vienna, Austria. Immersed since childhood in the world of the imagination, her paintings reflect her strong connection to the collective unconscious, her perceptions of the spiritual dimension of life, and her sensitivity to the sacredness of nature. Her artistic inspiration includes the old masters of Renaissance painting; Japanese comics and traditional Japanese art; Surrealist, Symbolist, Pre-Raphaelite and Romantic painters; Golden Age illustration; and various contemporary Visionary artists. She graduated with a BA in Visual Arts from Naropa University in 2008, then studied illustration for a year at University College Falmouth in Cornwall, England. She began painting with oil and egg tempera in 2013, when she enrolled as one of the first students at the Vienna Academy of Visionary Art, and has since also studied with “Mischtechnik” teacher Philip Rubinov Jacobson. As a painter, she is motivated to reveal in the external world the often forgotten images of the soul, to inspire others to look within.
